Biochemical Engineering
Product Review ". . .and from professors . . .a very good textbook. " ---Horacio A. Duarte, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Texas A&M University, Kingsville ". . .an great book that combines both theoretical and applied aspects of Biochemical Engineering. I plan to use it as a required textbook in three undergraduate and one graduate course. " ---Duane F. Bruley, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Maryland, Baltimore "An great book for graduate courses. " ---Juan Hong, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of California at Irvine ". . .comprehensive and covers many of the fundamental aspects of biochemical engineering in depth. By leaving biology concepts to other texts, Blanch and Clark provide more text space to chemical engineering material. The book is especially useful in the areas of enzyme catalysis and separations, not surprising since these are the specialties of the authors. " ---Michael J. Betenbaugh, Dept. of Chemical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland Duane F. Bruley, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, University of Maryland, Baltimore "a well-written textbookthat will be very effective for classroom teaching." Reader Reviews I used this book for a Biochemical Engineering course in the Chemical Engineering department. The book covers a wide range of topics in the field, including a section at the end dealing with an economic analysis of various processes which I found quite useful. What the book is really lacking are worked out example problems - there are very few throughout. Also I would have liked solutions to the problems at the end of each chapter. Some of the coverage is very thin on a few topics, sometimes leaving derivations or other formulas unexplained, so I had to rely on the lectures to cover the topics more in depth.
