There are 8 chapters in the book. Only the first and last chapter deal with smart antennas. And the first chapter is only very short; just giving a precis. Most chapters go over basic material. Maxwell's Equations for propagating an electromagnetic wave. Or the fundamental properties of antennas and arrays. This stuff has been in standard texts for decades.
